Mauricio Rincón Bonilla

Computational Materials Scientist – Chemical Engineer

Mauricio is a Senior Researcher and Ramón y Cajal Fellow at the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics (BCAM), co-leading the Energy Materials research line within the Modelling and Simulation in Life and Materials Science (MSLMS) area. His work bridges multiscale modelling and data-driven approaches to optimize nano- and mesostructured materials. With a focus on energy transport, storage, and catalysis, his specific research interests include next-generation batteries, hydrogen-alloy interactions, diffusion under extreme confinement and soft matter systems. Mauricio’s contributions have been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Ramón y Cajal Fellowship (2024), Juan de la Cierva Fellowship (2019), the HPC Europa3 access grant (2018), and the Key Foreign Experts grant from Tongji University in China (2024).
